I am pleased to inform our distinguished guests that All Kashmir houseboat owners association has introduced a manual with complete information of various categories of Houseboats, that have been serving the Tourism industry since 1900 A.D. and have achieved the name in service, accommodation and food from our valued guests who have stayed and enjoyed their stay in our Houseboats. That is why a Houseboat is called ” A HOME FAR AWAY FROM HOME ”.
The Houseboat Owners are the pioneers in the Tourism sector of the state. Since pre-1947 it was only the Houseboat which was providing accommodation to the tourists when there was a limited inflow of tourists mostly the foreign tourists who used to visit the valley. The Houseboat emerged as a potential accommodation provider and the tourists also got attracted to it which they would not experience in any part of the world. The Houseboat Owners got organised over the periods and finally formed an Association by the name of ”ALL KASHMIR HOUSEBOAT OWNERS ASSOCIATION” and the respected members at that time also gave it a Constitution which is followed as of date. However, the association now decided to publish a manual which has all the details including the names of Houseboats of various categories along with all details in it. This will help in promoting houseboats in a big way. Therefore, I believe that the publishing of the Manual is of utmost importance in the present scenario of tourism and details about tourist destinations of the state and other tourist information.
A Houseboat Owner is well versed in all tourism activities like Trekking, Trout fishing, sightseeing tours of all places in Kashmir including Boat cruises to various places in Kashmir valley which is an identity only to Kashmir.
Now, that the manual has been published, I am thankful to the working Committee members who made a great effort in publishing this manual and I greatly acknowledge their efforts in compiling the directory containing information of all houseboat owners which has been included in this Manual along with the information about Kashmir.
